Update ~ Japan & Taiwan

There will be a brief break from my regular (attempted, anyways) schedule of posts, as I will be traveling to Japan and Taiwan over the next couple of weeks. Of course, that also means there will be things to report on and photos to show you all. So stick around, and hang out with me while I wander to the other side of the globe ^_^

Also, my friend will also be in Japan (actually is already there) and is live-tweeting her own semi-simultaneous-to-mine trip, so if you like that sort of thing, check her out: https://twitter.com/KirarinSnowpyon.

Collab Cover ~ Juice=Juice "Hajimete no Keiken-chuu"

I did a recent duet with my awesome-tastic friend Miyu (OhSnapItsDJ Dubs on Youtube). We decided to cover Juice=Juice's "Hajimete no Keiken-chuu" because it's a really cute and upbeat song. I hope you like it too!

Weekly Favorites #12

I love the idea of keeping my stuff in treasure chests, and the design of this Ikea storage box is very reminiscent of one!

Sometimes, I get the urge to make my room look like a lovely forest. This rug would be perfect for completing that look.

I once painted a cherry blossom tree on a chest of drawers, but this beautiful wall decal would be a less permanent and much easier way to get the same effect.

What better way to held your books up than with adorable puppy bookends?

Toast is delicious, and toast with adorable faces is even better, especially if you can decorate your bed with it.

I hope your week is full of bright and shiny things! ^_^

Outfit Post ~ Hint of Lavender

This is one of my favorite Lolita skirts, because the fabric is thick and full, the lace is lovely, and it even has a built-in crinoline layer. It's also just super comfortable to wear. But most of all, I love how many little details there are in the print if you take the time to look. One of my favorite things to try with this skirt is to bring out the lavender details, rather than sticking with the most obvious black and cream/white. Sometimes I'm more successful than others, but I think the color of this shirt actually matched quite well.

Blobtoon #7 ~ Swanhilda vs. Coppelia

I'm super excited to be dancing the role of one of Swanhilda's friends in University Ballet of Chicago's upcoming production of Coppelia. And I also get to be the understudy for Coppelia, which I'm sure will be a really great learning opportunity as well!!!

English Adaptation ~ AKB00048/NO NAME "Niji no Ressha"

I found this song to be really inspiring and uplifting, and I felt like it would be a really fun challenge to create an English adaptation of it. The message of looking to the future and having the courage to go after your dreams is something that really speaks to me, especially with where I am right now. I've done English lyrics before, but I think every song is so different that it's a new challenge each time. I really enjoyed and hope to do more of this, and I hope you all enjoy it as well!

~ LYRICS:

As I wait, with the sun, on the breezy station grounds
'Cross the sky I can see a railway made up of clouds.
Glancing down at my watch as the time is drawing near,
Looking round, I sigh as quiet as can be.

Are you afraid, are you held back by all those voices saying "please don't go"?
Can you bear to leave all that you love?

See the rainbow colored train, destination: all our dreams
Taking off right on time, not a moment left to lose.
It's the start of a journey that I need to share with you,
Come with me, fly with me, throw it all away!

We all live on the ground, taking one step at a time
All we see is just ahead, to the rest our eyes are blind.
If we set our aim high, reach for something far beyond
Then we'll see how big this world of ours can become.

Can you go on, can you keep up? Let's go see where the future lies.
Even now, will you cling to the past?

See the seven-colored train, only one of its kind
Don't you miss that rainbow train, no one knows when it comes next.
When we've got something to show, caught our dreams and tried our best,
Then we can, then we might, come back here someday.

Now that everybody here has made it just in time
If we all start to run, something surely will begin
A seven-colored bridge beneath our feet

See the rainbow colored train, destination: all our dreams
Leaving any moment now, come on, don't be left behind.
Let us go on all together, with our friends we'll all be fine,
Come with me, fly with me, throw it all away!

Weekly Favorites #11

In honor of Valentine's Day in the coming week, this edition is full of hearts!

This umbrella is the perfect combination of utilitarian and cute.

(via Modcloth)

I've seen lots of heart-shaped measuring cup sets, but this one from SkyMall (haha... I know...) is by far the most beautiful variant I've seen yet.

(via SkyMall)

It's still cold if you're anywhere in the north, so here's some heart-themed socks to keep the legs cozy. Or if you're like me, you love socks all year round ^_^

(via Tabbisocks)

Not to neglect your fingers, here's some adorable gloves to keep your hands warm too!

(via yastikizi on Etsy)

Music and love go so well together; this lovely heart garland is appropriately made out of vintage sheet music.

May your coming week be filled with love and joy of all sorts!

Outfit Post ~ Jammin' Squirrels

In the literal sense of jam jars... I love the idea of cute woodland creatures having fun with some unsuspecting person's picnic, and this print totally captures all of that. That, and the cut of this skirt, makes this one of my most satisfying Lolita pieces. I like the peekaboo effect of the bottom ruffle, and I've always had a bit of an obsession with high-waisted bottoms. The front of the waist, with the bows, gives it that lovely corset-ish feel without blatantly screaming CORSET!!!

Blobtoon #6 ~ I'm A Little... Snowman?

Snowstorms are cool. Unless you have to walk through them. And get covered in snow and trapped on top of piles of snow... And then you do a snowman imitation until you fall over...
